Techno created live.
Bio
Draaht is a Basel-based techno duo performing fully improvised live sets—no pre-arranged tracks, no playback, no safety net.
Their sound is minimal, fast, and physical, typically moving above 130 BPM. Every set is built from scratch in real time, using a tightly configured hardware setup. Patterns emerge, lock, break, and reform—driven by instinct, interaction, and the pressure of the room. No two performances repeat.
Draaht formed after Boris Kraft and Gabriel Seher met at Elysia Club in Basel during a workshop with Sebastian Mullaert. What started as a shared interest in live systems and improvisation quickly turned into a focused collaboration: reduce the setup, remove the timeline, and commit fully to the moment.
Gabriel Seher has been working with electronic sound since the early 1990s, combining a deep technical understanding with a long-standing focus on live improvisation. His approach is process-driven: performances are recorded, then distilled into releases—never the other way around.
Boris Kraft comes from a background in bass, piano, and ensemble playing across rock, jazz, and soul. After stepping away from music to build and exit a software company, he returned with a focus on modular synthesis, sound design, and live systems.
Together, they operate as a closed circuit: two performers, one system, constant negotiation. The result is direct, unpolished techno—built in front of the audience, shaped by the space, and gone once it ends.
Draaht self-release most of their catalogue, including the album Robotica 917 (2024, seven tracks) and the live album Afterthoughts – Live Cuts Vol II (2026), the latter assembled directly from recorded improvised sets. Their EP 2303 And Counting came out on Logistic Records (FR) in June 2025, on vinyl and digital, alongside a steady run of 2026 singles and EPs—Obsession, Fixation, Paranoia, and Recollection.
